Welcome back

Welcome back everyone! Oh, wait. I should welcome myself back! I fell into a little bit of a creative slump when the basement flooded, but my mojo is back!

Cards are a great gift for a special someone over the holidays. How about a package of notecards or thank-you cards? These cards are by special request for some masculine cards. I know this is always a difficult "genre" for me, as I like lots of bling and sparkle. Not necessarily something those male types like in a card.

These cards use very masculine designer paper, tied up with hemp twine (just like my Halloween cards) or knotted ribbon (which seems to be more manly than a bow). Then I used Rub-ons for the sentiment. GREAT way to add a little "oomph" to your cards without stamping!

Born to Ride

Happy Birthday to Billy! Duane's brother-in-law's birthday is today and he is a huge Harley fan. He actually went with us on my first trip to Sturgis! :) This stamp set is retired, but one I will never get rid of with all the bikers in our family!

These are basically the same card, just oriented differently with some different embellishments.

Hooked on Fishing

Today is Duane's sister Trudy's birthday. And boy does she love to fish! Even more than Duane. I bought this stamp set a few years back becuase it works perfect for so many people in our families who love fishing!

This card turned out just the way I wanted it to. Originally I was going to sew on the card instead of use ribbon, but found I didn't have any brown thread. Ribbon works well in the space! The Mellow moss layer is dry embossed through my Big Shot which gives great dimension.

Here is a close up of the card. You can sorta see the dots on the Moss layer. Also - what do you think of the clip next to the fly? Kinda like a fish hook, right? (Remember they are on sale through Sunday if you want to get any.) Came together quite nicely, and hope she likes it.

Happy Birthday Trudy!

On the Fly

Somehow I have been volunteered to make both the treats AND the cards for the birthdays at work. I can't say that I am complaining - cuz I love to do both. So - the brownies are cooling upstairs, and here are the cards that I am making for the 2 bosses that share a birthday this weekend.

Masculine cards are hard for me cuz I love ribbon tied into bows, glitter and glitz. I think these turned out pretty good. Both of the attorneys love to fish, and I just love the On the Fly set. Even though it is retired, I will never get rid of it. Too many special people in my life love to fish! Both of these cards are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 so we all have room to sign!

This was the first card I made. I knew I wanted to use the fisherman catching a 3-D fish. By adding some hemp twine, it really makes the card more manly!

Card Recipe:
Stamp Set:
On the Fly (retired), Family Phrases
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, Really Rust, Always Artichoke, Going Gray, Ruby Red
Cardstock: River Rock (retired), Always Artichoke, Naturals Ivory, Cameo Coral
Accessories: River Rock Designer Paper (retired), Hemp Twine, (non-SU!) eyelets, Dimensionals
Techniques: Chalk coloring

The second card I again used the chalk to color. I like the soft look that it gives, especially with this 'rough' images.

Card Recipe:

Cardstock: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Brocade Blue, Naturals Ivory

Thanks for stopping by! Happy birthday to Craig and Scott!!
